1.0 INTRODUCTION

Time and time again people in London and elsewhere are subjected to disruption of their daily lives by demonstrators. During 2019 and early 2020 it was the turn of the gullible supporters of the anarchistic rabble-rousing group known as "Extinction Rebellion" (XR). This article focuses on XR's founding and other significant members but also discusses some other organisations (and individuals who have had a significant influence on them) which have a direct or indirect relationship with XR, either through their membership, objectives or strategies.

1.0 INTRODUCTION

As has been widely reported by the UK media the 2013/14 winter storms have had a catastrophic impact upon many occupants of the Somerset Levels. On 3rd February 2014 Prince Charles paid a visit to the flooded Somerset Levels and it is reported that Charles Hignett, chairman of the Country Landowners and Business Association's Somerset Branch, said " .. I think the Prince of Wales was listening, he was in a listening mode. I am quite sure he understands the issues very well." (http://www.talktalk.co.uk/news/uk/article/charles-on-tragedy-of-flood-delay/118400/).

On 7th February 2014 the visit by Lord (Chris) Smith, Chairman of the Environmental Agency (http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/aboutus/organisation/38747.aspx) enjoyed a less enthusiastic welcome (Appendix A, Note 4). His proposal to get started doing some dredging during the coming months was greeted with derision by locals who were asking why it had taken so long to reach the conclusion that this was a solution to the problem. During his visit (following that of Lord Smith) David Cameron said it was "wrong" to stop dredging in the Levels in the 1990s, adding: "We need to get dredging again .. Everything that can be done, will be done and I'll make sure that happens. There are always lessons to learn and I'll make sure they are learned. I've said that when the water-levels are down and it's safe to dredge, to make sure that these rivers and these ditches can carry a better capacity of water .. Listening, understanding, reacting and learning are all very well but what is it that has been done to cause such horrendous flooding knowing full-well that the area is prone to such events. What could and should have been done to minimise the impact and what can be done now to minimise the risk of it happening again? (see also Appendix A, Note 13)

The Prince of Wales and his "Headless Chickens"

It has been widely reported that on 30th January 2014 the Prince of Wales branded climate change deniers the "headless chicken brigade" (e.g. see http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2014/01/31/prince-charles-climate-change_n_4702914.html?ncid=webmail1 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2549658/Prince-Charles-hits-climate-change-deniers-labelling-headless-chicken-brigade.html http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/457273/Climate-change-deniers-are-headless-chickens-says-Prince-Charles etc. etc. etc.).

Prince Charles is quoted as offering the following pearls of wisdom to his audience:
1) " .. It is baffling .. that in our modern world we have such blind trust in science and technology that we all accept what science tells us about everything - until, that is, it comes to climate science .. "
2) " .. with a barrage of sheer intimidation, we are told by powerful groups of deniers that the scientists are wrong .. "
3) "  .. we are told ... we must abandon all our faith in so much overwhelming scientific evidence .. "
4) " .. we have spent the best part of the past century enthusiastically testing the world to utter destruction .. ".
5) " .. So, thank goodness for our young entrepreneurs here, who have the far-sightedness and confidence in what they know is happening to ignore the headless chicken brigade .. ".

Let's get fracking

There have been encouraging developments since this article was posted following the response from the UK’s Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) to a suggestion “ .. Let's get fracking here in the UK .. ” sent to politicians and copied to other interested parties, including members of Repeal the Act (http://www.repealtheact.org.uk/about) and the United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP).

SpotlightON – The Philippines, BBC “Question Time” and CACC

INTRODUCTION

On 15th November 2013 that staunch supporter of the Catastrophic Anthropogenic Climate Change (CACC) hypothesis, the Guardian, posted an article “Japan under fire for scaling back plans to cut greenhouse gases” (http://www.theguardian.com/global-development/2013/nov/15/japan-scaling-back-cut-greenhouse-gases). It began with a picture of the Philippines negotiator Naderev Sano at the UN's climate change talks in Warsaw, Poland beneath which it says that he has begun a fast to protest against inaction on global warming, which he blames for Typhoon Haiyan (known locally as Typhoon Yolanda).

One relevant piece of information missing from all of the reports trying to link the Typhoon Haiyan catastrophe in the Philippines with CACC is that there was a similar catastrophe in the Philippines which killed an estimated 7000 people 116 years ago (Appendix A, Note 9)

Blaming natural weather events like this on our use of fossil fuels is a favourite trick of those who support the UN in its attempts to redistribute wealth from richer to poorer nations. This appears to be one of the main objectives of all of the UN’s propaganda about our use of fossil fuels leading to CACC. Propagandists will use anything that they can in order to promote their agenda but any CACC supporters using a catastrophe such as Typhoon Haiyan simply to promote their own agenda should hang their heads in shame. It is to be expected that leaders of less developed nations, eager to get their hands on as much money as they can from the richer developed nations, would give their unreserved support to the CACC propaganda. They have had their hands outstretched throughout each of the the UN’s Framework Convention on Climate Change (FCCC) Climate Change Conference of the Parties. The COP19 shindig is no different – Appendix A, Note 1).

What any of this has to do with the BBCs “Question Time” program should become clear later.

This work-in-progress investigates the validity of attempts by scientists to reconstruct past atmospheric CO2 concentrations using air recovered from ice sheets and glaciers. This air is considered by some to remain virtually unchanged for the decades, centuries and millennia that it is enclosed within pores that form in the ice as it is compressed. Geologist Professor Richard Alley has gone as far as referring to the ice-core record as the "Gold Standard" for determining past atmospheric CO2 content - but is it?.

"Farewell" to Chief Scientist Sir John Beddington

That staunch defender of the Catastrophic Anthropogenic Climate Change (CACC) religion, our "beloved" BBC, provided the thankfully outgoing chief scientist Professor Beddington with another opportunity to push the CACC propaganda. On BBC News this morning he was there claiming that atmospheric CO2 levels have been pushed up to dangerous levels due to our use of fossil fuels and the consequence would be drastic weather conditions with more extreme changes between flooding and droughts.

" .. Prof Sir John Beddington warns of floods, droughts and storms .. The UK government's chief scientist has said that there is already enough CO2 in the atmosphere for there to be more floods and droughts over the next 25 years .. " (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-21357520).

It seems that neither Sir John nor the scare-mongering environmentalists at the BBC have noticed the colder and colder winters we have been getting in recent years as we head into another period of NATURAL cooling that is predicted to last for DECADES. As we head into another Little Ice Age (or worse) perhaps Sir John will have a rethink about his support for the CACC propagandists.

One thing that Sir John forgot to mention was that the scientists upon whom he depended for advice while in office have no more idea than he does about what has caused such weather extremes since the world began 4.5 billion years ago.

He appears to have forgotten what he was saying back in 2010 about it being time to start listening what the scientists who are sceptical of the CACC hypothesis were telling us. The BBC too seems to have chosen to ignore what one of their more down-to-earth presenters Andrew Neil said back in 2010 " .. Global warming sceptics are having a field day amidst fiercely cold temperatures in many parts of Northern Europe and North America .. Introduction

In Part 1 of this three-part article I talked about some of the earlier political propaganda promoting The (significant human-made global climate change) Hypothesis and looked at possible motivation of one UK publisher of books by authors who support that hypothesis. This time I’ll talk about a book that is in preparation, the co-authors and a little about its USA publisher.

This additional potential “spin and scare” book “Rising Sea Levels” is being prepared for publication by McFarland and Co by co-authors Hunt Janin and Ursula Carlson. Let us take a closer look at the degree of expertise in the subject of “Rising Sea Levels” shared by this pair of ambitious writers. After all, it would seem to be reasonable to expect that they know something about a subject that they are writing about, especially one as contentious as sea levels claimed to be rising as a result of our use of fossil fuels.

Last October in the run-up to the UN’s COP15 climate change fiasco in Copenhagen the previous UK “New Labour” Government’s Department of Energy and Climate Change ran a £6M advertising “scare” campaign “Bedtime Stories” as part of its Act on CO2 initiative. Accoring to the BBC (Note 1) QUOTE: This was intended “to make adults feel guilty about the impact their carbon emissions are having on their children's future. .. The minute-long ad, which launched on 9 October, features a father telling his daughter a bedtime story about "a very very strange" world with "horrible consequences" for children. It then goes on to show streets and houses underwater, with cartoon animals and people drowning and a jagged-tooth monster in the sky, representing global warming” UNQUOTE..

As Lord Turnbull (http://thegwpf.org/who-we-are/board-of-trustees.html) said in his forward to the report " .. The result has been that the three investigations have failed to achieve their objective, ie early and conclusive closure and restoration of confidence .. ".

As I pointed out at the end of this article there were high hopes for the action taken by Kenneth Cuccinelli, Attorney General of Virginia, against the University of Virginia but these were dashed in a March by the decision of the Circuit Court of Albermarle County to QUOTE: .. set aside the CIDs with prejudice, on the different ground that the University of Virginia, as an agency of the Commonwealth, does not constitute a "person" under the Fraud Against Taxpayers Act and therefore cannot be the proper subject of a CID ..
